Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American artist and singer hailing who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her EP Pho. This was the moment that she gained recognition. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded her music on the internet in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and her mixtape debut in 2013 with five Finger Discount. Ari Lennox continued posting her music online including her self-released single Bound. The track Sweat it is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs for the Dreamville Team in the following year, as he wanted Rihanna to work with her on some references. She officially was signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut EP, on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his single Change in 2017, and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared as a guest performer on two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was then released in September. In November, she dropped two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. She then released on November 13 two new singles titled No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on February 26, 2019 for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed with Cole in her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 that surpassed three million views on YouTube in its first seven days. In December of 2018, she was a supporting act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
